Version 2026-10-v1 · Effective 29 October 2026
Welcome to Pretoh. These Terms and Conditions (the "Terms") are a binding agreement between you and Pretoh ("we", "us", "our").
They have two parts. Part A explains how Pretoh works and how Loans work. Part B, at the end, is the agreement for the paid Pretoh service: the subscription fees and the refund rules. Together they explain how Pretoh works, what we do, what you agree to, what we charge, what happens if something goes wrong, and how we protect both you and us. Please read them carefully. Each section starts with a short summary in plain words.
By tapping "I agree", or by using Pretoh, you confirm that you have read, understood and accepted these Terms and our Privacy Notice. If you do not agree, please do not use Pretoh.
Part A: Using Pretoh and borrowing
1. Definitions
In plain words: the meaning of the main words used in these Terms.
- "Account" means your Pretoh account, linked to one mobile phone number and one person.
- "App" means the Pretoh mobile web application, its website, and any other channel we offer (for example USSD, if we add it later).
- "Applicant" means a person who has started or completed sign-up.
- "Business day" means a day other than Saturday, Sunday or a public holiday in Cameroon.
- "Due date" means the date by which a Loan must be repaid in full, as shown in the App.
- "Loan" means an amount of money lent to you by Pretoh.
- "Credit limit" means the largest amount we can lend you at a given time. It is personal and changes with your repayment history.
- "Plan" means a type of Loan: its amounts, number of payments, payment frequency and standard interest rate.
- "Offer" means our answer to your loan request: the amount, interest, total and payment dates we propose.
- "Mobile-money account" means your MTN Mobile Money or Orange Money account.
- "Payment Partner" means a payment company we use to collect and send money (see our Privacy Notice).
- "PIN" means the 4-digit code you choose to sign in to the App.
- "Subscription" means your paid access to the Pretoh services under Part B. While your Subscription is active, you can request Loans. Each request is assessed on the published criteria in section 6.7. Nobody is ever chosen by chance.
- "Subscription fee" and "Subscription renewal" have the meaning given in Part B.
- "Total due" means the Loan amount plus interest, minus any credit we apply, as shown in the App.
2. Who we are and how Pretoh works
In plain words: Pretoh runs the app and the service, and lends the money.
2.1 Pretoh is a digital service. We provide the App, check identities, assess requests, send reminders, store your records and manage your Account. We charge for these services under Part B.
2.2 Loans are made by Pretoh. A Loan may be granted or refused. The amount is assessed by Pretoh at its sole discretion, on its rating and the published criteria in section 6.7. A request creates no loan contract until you sign the Loan Agreement and the money is actually sent to you.
2.3 Money moves through Payment Partners and your mobile-money operator (MTN or Orange). Pretoh does not take deposits and is not a bank.
2.4 You can contact us by email, phone or WhatsApp (where a WhatsApp number is shown) at [email protected], or through Profile → Help in the App.
3. Who can use Pretoh
In plain words: one adult, living in Cameroon, with a valid ID and a mobile-money account in their own name.
3.1 To use Pretoh, you must:
- be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into a contract;
- live in Cameroon;
- hold a valid identity document that has not expired: a national identity card (CNI), a passport, or a CNI receipt (récépissé);
- have an MTN Mobile Money or Orange Money account registered in your own name;
- use a mobile phone number that belongs to you.
3.2 One person, one Account. You may hold only one Pretoh Account. Opening or trying to open more than one Account, or an Account in another person's name, is fraud (see section 11).
3.3 We may refuse any application, including where the law or our risk rules do not allow us to serve you.
4. Signing up and verifying your identity
In plain words: we check who you are, that you are real and present, and where you live, before any Loan.
4.1 Sign-up steps. To sign up, you will be asked to:
- accept these Terms and our Privacy Notice;
- confirm your phone number with a one-time SMS code;
- give your full name as written on your ID;
- give your date of birth, occupation, income range and the reason for the loan;
- take photos of your ID document;
- complete a short live selfie check (for example: blink, turn your head, smile);
- give your home address and place a pin at your home, with your permission to use your phone's location;
- pay the Subscription fee.
4.2 Checks we carry out. We check, using our own systems:
- that your ID document looks genuine and has not expired;
- that the details on your ID match what you told us;
- that the selfie shows a real person who is present, and that it matches the photo on your ID;
- that your face, ID number, phone and device are not used by another Account;
- that the name on your mobile-money account matches your ID;
- that your home location is consistent with your address.
4.3 Accuracy. You must give true, complete and current information, and update it if it changes. You can ask us to correct your details through Profile → Help.
4.4 Further checks. At any time, including before a Loan is sent, we may ask you to repeat the selfie check, give more information, or confirm your address (for example through a visit by one of our field agents). If you do not complete these checks, we may pause your application or your Account.
4.5 Our decision on verification is final for the purpose of using Pretoh, but you may ask for a person to review it (see section 13).
5. Fees
In plain words: you pay Pretoh for a service that starts straight away: FCFA 500 once at the end of sign-up, then FCFA 300 every 30 days if you choose to renew. You can cancel renewals at any time in Profile. The fees are separate from the interest on any Loan and never guarantee a Loan. You get your money back if the problem is ours.
5.1 The fees, what they pay for, and the refund rules are set out in Part B at the end of these Terms.
5.2 No guarantee of a Loan. Paying the Subscription fee or renewals does not guarantee that you will receive a Loan, and it does not give you a priority or a place in any queue or draw. Each request is assessed on the published criteria in section 6.7. We tell you this on the payment screen, before you pay.
5.6 Operator charges. Your mobile-money operator may charge you its own fees for payments or withdrawals. These are set by the operator, not by Pretoh.
5.7 Changes to fees. We may change the fees. We will tell you in the App before the change applies, and it will apply only to payments made after that date.
6. Loans
In plain words: you ask, we make you an offer, you accept or decline. One loan at a time, with a fixed interest.
6.1 Requests, offers and limits. You may request any amount up to FCFA 1,000,000 and choose a Plan. We then make you an Offer, which may be lower than the amount you asked for. The amount offered depends on your Credit limit, the Plan, the money available that day and our checks. Your first Credit limit is FCFA 2,000. It can grow as you repay on time, and goes down if you pay late. Some Plans open only after a number of Loans repaid on time. An Offer is valid for the time shown in the App. You are free to accept or decline it, and declining has no cost.
The Plans:
| Plan | Amounts | Repayment | Interest (standard rate) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pay any time within 7 days | FCFA 2,000 – FCFA 50,000 | in one payment, after 7 days | 10% up to FCFA 10,000 · 8% up to FCFA 50,000 · 6% above |
| Pay any time within 14 days | FCFA 2,000 – FCFA 50,000 | in one payment, after 14 days | 15% up to FCFA 10,000 · 11% up to FCFA 50,000 · 9% above |
| Pay any time within 30 days | FCFA 2,000 – FCFA 1,000,000 | in one payment, after 30 days | 20% up to FCFA 10,000 · 15% up to FCFA 50,000 · 12% up to FCFA 200,000 · 10% above |
| 4 weekly payments | FCFA 10,000 – FCFA 200,000 | 4 payments, weekly | 18% up to FCFA 50,000 · 14% up to FCFA 200,000 · 12% above |
6.2 Interest. Each Loan carries a fixed interest, shown as a percentage of the amount borrowed for the whole term. Your personal rate is based on the Plan's standard rate and your history with us, and always stays between 5% and 30%. It is shown in the Offer and in your Loan Agreement before you accept, and does not grow during the term. Example: if you borrow FCFA 2,000 at 10% over 7 days, you repay FCFA 2,200.
6.3 Loan agreement. Every Loan comes with its own written Loan Agreement and Acknowledgement of Debt, showing both parties, the amount (in figures and in words), the interest, the Total due and the Due date. You sign it in the App with your PIN or an SMS code before any money is sent. The agreement is concluded when you sign it, and your obligation to repay starts when the money reaches your mobile-money account (section 6.5). If the money never reaches you, you owe nothing under that agreement. You can read and download each signed agreement in the App at any time.
6.4 One Loan at a time. You can have only one Loan open at a time.
6.5 Sending the money.
- The Loan is sent to the mobile-money number on your Account. Make sure it is correct and active.
- Before sending, we may ask you to repeat the selfie check to confirm it is really you.
- A Loan is treated as received when your mobile-money operator confirms the payment to our Payment Partner.
- If the transfer fails, we may retry it or cancel the Loan. You are not charged interest on a Loan you did not receive.
6.6 Use of the money. You must use the Loan for lawful purposes only.
6.7 How requests are assessed: the published criteria. An active Subscription lets you request Loans. It does not put you in a draw or a pool, and nobody is ever chosen by chance. Each request is assessed, by our system and, where needed, by a person, on these categories of criteria only:
- Identity and eligibility: your age, that you live in Cameroon, a valid ID, a mobile-money account in your own name, and one Account per person (section 3).
- Verification results: the live selfie check, the face match with your ID, the duplicate-account check, and the consistency of your address and home pin.
- Your history with Pretoh: how you repaid before, any late payment or default, and how long you have been a customer.
- Affordability and limits: the occupation and income range you gave us, the amount you request compared with your personal Credit limit, the Plan's limits and the conditions to open it, the rule of one Loan at a time, and the maximum any one customer may owe.
- Fraud and security signals: for example a new device, a location that does not match your address, or a failed check.
- The funds available that day: Pretoh sets how much can be lent each day. When that day's funds are used up, we tell you, and you can request again later. You lose nothing and pay nothing extra.
- Legal and regulatory rules: anti-money-laundering rules, court or authority orders, and our lending policy.
Area coverage. So that the service reaches every area, a small number of small Loans may be offered each week in areas of about 5 km where few Loans have been paid out yet. They go to customers who pass the identity, duplicate and fraud checks but do not yet qualify for an instant approval, within fixed weekly and daily limits. This can only help you. It never reduces what you would otherwise be offered.
We never use ethnicity, religion, political opinion, health, your contacts, your messages or your call history.
7. Repayment
In plain words: repay the Total due by the Due date, in the App or by approving the payment request on your phone.
7.1 When. You must repay the Total due in full by the Due date.
7.2 How. You can repay:
- in the App, with the Repay button, by approving the payment request on your phone;
- by approving a payment request we send on or after the Due date.
7.3 Early repayment. You may repay all or part of a Loan at any time before the Due date, at no extra cost. Interest is not reduced for early repayment, because it is fixed for the term.
7.4 Partial payments. If you pay part of the Total due, the payment is applied first to interest, then to any late charges that apply to that Loan, then to the Loan amount. The rest stays due.
7.5 When a payment counts. A repayment counts only when our Payment Partner confirms it. Keep the confirmation SMS from your operator.
7.6 Reminders. We remind you before and after the Due date through the App, push notifications and, where needed, SMS (see section 10).
7.7 Right to cancel within 48 hours. You can cancel a Loan within 48 hours after the money reaches your mobile-money account. Tell us through Profile → Help ("Cancel my loan") and repay only the amount lent within those 48 hours. The interest is then cancelled and the Loan is closed, with no effect on your Credit limit. The details are in your Loan Agreement. This right never reduces any longer right the law gives you.
8. Late payment, default and recovery
In plain words: being late lowers your next loan; after 30 days the loan is in default, your account is blocked, and we may take legal steps. We always behave respectfully.
8.1 Late payment. If the Total due is not paid by the Due date:
- the Loan is marked late;
- your Credit limit is reduced;
- you will receive reminders.
Late charges. Late charges are optional and may or may not apply. The late charges in force for new Loans today are:
No late charges apply to this loan.
The exact late charges for each Loan, if any, are shown in its Offer and in its Loan Agreement before you sign. They are fixed when the Loan is created and never change after that, even if the charges for new Loans change later. No other late charge is ever added.
8.2 Default. If the Total due is still unpaid 30 days after the Due date, the Loan is in default. Then:
- your Account is blocked and you cannot receive new Loans;
- the full unpaid amount becomes immediately due;
- we may take the recovery steps allowed by Cameroonian law, including legal proceedings;
- where the law allows, information about the unpaid Loan may be reported to the competent authorities or credit information systems.
8.3 Our recovery code of conduct. We promise that we will:
- never contact your family, friends, neighbours or employer about your Loan;
- never threaten, insult, shame or harass you, or publish your information;
- contact you only at reasonable hours (08:00 to 20:00);
- always tell you clearly how much you owe and how to pay;
- listen if you are in difficulty, and consider a repayment arrangement where possible;
- never involve the police or the gendarmerie, or complain to a prosecutor, only because a Loan is unpaid. Not repaying a loan is not a crime. We make criminal complaints only for real fraud, such as a false identity or forged documents.
8.4 If you are in difficulty, contact us before the Due date through Profile → Help. We will look for a solution with you, but any arrangement must be confirmed in writing in the App.
9. Payments, Payment Partners and mistakes
In plain words: payments go through payment companies and your operator; mistakes must be corrected.
9.1 Payment Partners. Payments are processed by Payment Partners and your mobile-money operator. Their own terms also apply to the payment itself. We choose which Payment Partner processes a payment.
9.2 Confirmation. A payment to or from you counts only when our Payment Partner confirms it to us. A payment request you did not approve, or that failed, has no effect.
9.3 Wrong number. You are responsible for the mobile-money number on your Account. We are not responsible for money sent to a number you gave us that turns out to be wrong.
9.4 Mistakes. If money is paid to you or to us by mistake (for example twice), it must be returned. If you paid twice by mistake, contact us and we will refund the extra amount after checking.
9.5 No double charges. Our systems are designed so that one action cannot be charged or paid twice, even if the network is slow and you tap twice. If you think you were charged twice, contact us.
10. Communications and electronic agreement
In plain words: we talk to you through the App, notifications and SMS; your taps count as your agreement.
10.1 How we contact you. We send messages about your Account (approvals, payments, reminders, changes) to:
- the inbox in the App;
- push notifications, if you allow them;
- SMS to your registered number, when needed.
10.2 Service messages. You cannot opt out of service messages about your Account and Loans while you use Pretoh, because they are part of the service.
10.3 Offers. Messages about offers are optional. You can turn them off at any time in Profile → Preferences, or reply STOP.
10.4 Electronic agreement. You agree that:
- tapping "I agree", "Pay", "Repay", "Approve" or similar buttons, and entering your PIN or an SMS code, are your electronic signature;
- they have the same value as a handwritten signature;
- our electronic records of these actions, including time and device, are proof of them, unless you show otherwise.
10.5 Language. These Terms, and our messages to you, are available in English and French. You can choose your language in the App.
11. Your commitments, fraud and prohibited use
In plain words: be honest, keep it personal, use it legally. Fraud ends your account.
11.1 You agree to:
- give only true and current information;
- use only your own identity, face, phone number and mobile-money account;
- keep only one Account;
- repay your Loans on time;
- use Pretoh only for lawful purposes.
11.2 You must not:
- apply under another person's identity, or help someone else do so;
- use a fake, altered or someone else's ID document, photo or video;
- try to trick the selfie check (for example with a photo, a screen, a mask or an edited video);
- use Pretoh for money laundering, terrorist financing or any illegal activity;
- try to access other people's Accounts, interfere with our systems, or copy the App;
- sell, lend or transfer your Account.
11.3 What we may do in case of fraud or a breach. If we reasonably suspect fraud, false information or a breach of this section, we may:
- refuse or cancel an application or a Loan;
- block or close your Account;
- keep the fees for services already delivered (the refund cases in Part B, B4, still apply);
- require immediate repayment of any amount owed;
- report the matter to the Payment Partners and the competent authorities.
11.4 Anti-money-laundering rules. We and our partners must follow Cameroon's and the CEMAC region's rules against money laundering and terrorist financing. We may have to verify, record, delay or report transactions, and we may not always be allowed to tell you.
12. Your Account and security
In plain words: keep your phone, PIN and codes secret; tell us fast if your phone is lost.
12.1 Signing in. You sign in with your phone number and an SMS code, then with your 4-digit PIN on later visits.
12.2 Keep them secret. You must keep your phone, PIN and SMS codes secret. Pretoh will never ask for your PIN or an SMS code by phone call, SMS, WhatsApp or in person. Anyone who does is not Pretoh.
12.3 Your responsibility. You are responsible for actions taken in your Account with your PIN or codes, unless you told us your phone was lost or stolen, or your PIN known to someone else, before those actions.
12.4 Lost or stolen phone. Tell us immediately through [email protected]. We will block access to your Account until you confirm your identity again.
12.5 Wrong PIN. After several wrong PINs, PIN sign-in is locked and you must sign in again with an SMS code.
13. How we decide, and your right to a review
In plain words: some decisions are automatic, others are made by our team; you can ask a person to look again.
13.1 How we assess. We assess each request only on the published criteria in section 6.7: your identity and verification results, your history with Pretoh, affordability and limits, fraud signals, the funds available that day, and the legal rules. We do not use your contacts, messages or call history, and we never use ethnicity, religion or political opinion.
13.2 Automatic and human decisions. Some approvals are made automatically. Other applications are reviewed by our team, usually within 48 hours.
13.3 Possible outcomes. You may be:
- approved;
- told "not this time", for example because the day's funds are used up or a criterion is not met yet. While your Subscription is active, your open request is automatically assessed again at our regular review times (usually twice a day), on the same criteria. You can also cancel it or make a new one later;
- refused, mainly for fraud or failed checks.
We tell you the main reason in plain words, for example "today's funds are used up" or "your identity check needs to be repeated".
13.4 Review by a person. You can ask for a person to review a decision through Profile → Help. We will answer within 5 business days.
14. Suspension, closure and dormant accounts
In plain words: you can leave at any time; we can suspend or close accounts for good reasons.
14.1 Leaving. You can stop using Pretoh at any time by not renewing your Subscription, or by asking us to close your Account. Any Loan still open must be repaid in full.
14.2 Suspension or closure by us. We may suspend or close your Account, with or without notice, if:
- we reasonably suspect fraud or a breach of these Terms;
- a Loan is in default;
- the law, a court or a regulator requires it;
- your Account shows activity that puts you, other customers or Pretoh at risk.
14.3 After closure. These Terms continue to apply to any amount you still owe and to the sections that by their nature survive (for example sections 8, 11, 15, 16 and 19).
15. Our responsibility
In plain words: we do our best and answer for our own faults, but not for things outside our control.
15.1 Availability. We work hard to keep Pretoh available, secure and correct. However, it may sometimes be unavailable or slow because of maintenance, network or operator problems, or events outside our control.
15.2 What we are not responsible for. To the extent allowed by law, we are not responsible for:
- delays or failures caused by your mobile-money operator, your network, a Payment Partner or a power or internet outage;
- losses caused by information you gave us that was wrong or incomplete;
- losses caused by someone using your PIN or codes before you told us they were compromised;
- indirect losses such as lost profit, lost business or lost opportunity.
15.3 Limit. To the extent allowed by law, our total responsibility to you for any claim related to Pretoh is limited to the total fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
15.4 Your legal rights. Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our responsibility where the law does not allow it, for example for fraud or gross negligence, or your rights as a consumer under Cameroonian law that cannot be limited.
16. Your responsibility to us
16.1 If you break these Terms, use Pretoh fraudulently, or give false information, you agree to cover the losses and reasonable costs (including legal costs) that this causes to Pretoh or the Payment Partners, to the extent allowed by law.
17. Events outside our control
17.1 We are not responsible for failing to perform these Terms because of events outside our reasonable control. These include natural disasters, epidemics, war, unrest, strikes, government action, or a major failure of the mobile, internet or power networks. We will resume the service as soon as reasonably possible.
18. Intellectual property
18.1 The Pretoh name, logo, App, designs, texts and software belong to Pretoh or its licensors. You may use the App only to use Pretoh for yourself. You may not copy, change, sell or reverse-engineer it.
19. Complaints and disputes
In plain words: tell us first; we answer quickly; if needed, the courts of Douala decide under Cameroonian law.
19.1 Complaints. Contact us at [email protected], or through Profile → Help. We acknowledge your complaint within 2 business days and give you an answer within 5 business days, or tell you why we need more time (up to 30 days).
19.2 If you are not satisfied with our answer, you may contact the competent consumer-protection or financial authorities or, for questions about your data, the Personal Data Protection Authority. Making a complaint never costs anything and never affects your requests.
19.3 Governing law and courts. These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Cameroon and the applicable CEMAC rules. Any dispute that cannot be settled amicably will be brought before the competent courts of Douala.
20. Changes to these Terms
20.1 We may change these Terms, for example when our services, fees or the law change.
20.2 We will tell you in the App before the changes apply. Where the changes are important, we will ask you to accept the new version before you continue.
20.3 Changes never apply to a Loan that was already sent. That Loan stays on the terms shown when it was approved.
21. Field agents
In plain words: agents can help you, but they never touch your money, your PIN or your codes.
21.1 What agents do. Pretoh works with independent field agents in markets, motor parks, campuses and neighbourhoods. An agent may:
- explain Pretoh and help you sign up on your own phone;
- give you their agent code to enter during sign-up;
- with your agreement, visit your home to confirm your address, between 08:00 and 20:00;
- remind you politely by phone or message if your Loan is late.
Agents do not make recovery visits to your home. Recovery after default follows section 8.
21.2 What agents must never do. An agent must never:
- ask for or receive cash or any payment from you. All payments go through your mobile-money account to Pretoh's payment companies, in the App;
- ask for your PIN or an SMS code, or sign in to your Account;
- take your ID, or photos of it, on their own phone;
- promise you a Loan, a bigger Loan, or a faster decision;
- threaten you, or contact your family, neighbours or employer about your Loan.
21.3 Report a problem. If an agent breaks these rules, report it through [email protected] or Profile → Help. We will investigate and stop working with agents who break them.
21.4 Agents' pay. Agents are paid by Pretoh only for Loans that are repaid, never for sign-ups, so they have no reason to push you to borrow more than you can repay.
22. Responsible borrowing
22.1 Borrow only what you can repay by the Due date. A Pretoh Loan is meant for short-term needs (for example stock for a small business), not for paying other debts.
22.2 If you are struggling with debt, contact us before the Due date. We will not offer you a new Loan while another is open.
23. General
23.1 Transfer. We may transfer our rights and duties under these Terms (for example the right to be repaid) to a successor, to a financial institution, or to another person allowed by law to hold them, as long as your rights are not reduced and you are informed. You may not transfer your rights or duties.
23.2 Severability. If any part of these Terms is found invalid, the rest stays in force.
23.3 No waiver. If we do not enforce a right immediately, we may still enforce it later.
23.4 Entire agreement. These Terms (Parts A and B), the Privacy Notice and the details shown in the App form the whole agreement between you and us about Pretoh. Each Loan is also governed by its own Loan Agreement. If Part A and Part B differ on fees or refunds, Part B applies. If these Terms and a Loan Agreement differ on a Loan, the Loan Agreement applies.
23.5 Languages. These Terms exist in English and French, and both versions have the same value. You can read them at any time in Profile → Legal.
23.6 Contact. By email, phone or WhatsApp (where shown): [email protected], or Profile → Help in the App.
Part B: The Pretoh service subscription (fees and refunds)
In plain words: Part B is the agreement for the paid Pretoh service. You pay for a service that starts straight away. The fees are separate from the interest on any Loan, and they never guarantee a Loan. You get your money back if the problem is ours.
You accept Part B when you accept these Terms at sign-up, and you confirm it each time you approve a fee or renewal payment. On the payment screen, the information button (ⓘ) next to the fee explains that the fee is for the service, is separate from any Loan, and does not guarantee a Loan, and links to these Terms.
B1. The services
We provide these services to you:
B1.1 Identity verification. We read and check your identity document, run the live selfie check, compare your face with the photo on your document, check that you do not already have an Account, and check that the name on your mobile-money account matches your document. This is the main service paid for by the Subscription fee, and it runs immediately after you pay.
B1.2 Assessment of your Loan requests. While your Subscription is active, each Loan request you make is assessed, by our system and, where needed, by a person, on the published criteria in section 6.7. We then show you an Offer, or the main reason why there is no Offer this time.
B1.3 Account and App access. Your Account, Profile, Plans, request and repayment screens, and Help.
B1.4 Inbox and notifications. Service messages, receipts and reminders, in the App inbox, by push notification and, where needed, by SMS.
B1.5 Storage of your records. We keep your signed agreements, receipts, decisions and payment history safely. You can read and download them at any time, even after your Subscription ends.
B2. The fees
B2.1 Subscription fee: FCFA 500, paid once, at the end of sign-up and before any decision. It pays for your identity verification and your first 30 days of access to the services in B1.2 to B1.4.
B2.2 Subscription renewal: FCFA 300 every 30 days, if you choose to keep access. It pays for a further 30 days of the services in B1.2 to B1.4, and for any repeat verification needed during that period, for example before a Loan is sent.
B2.3 Renewal is never automatic. We remind you before your period ends and send a payment request. You are free to approve it or not. If you do not renew within 5 days after your period ends, your access to new requests pauses. You can still read your records, repay a Loan and contact us. You can renew at any time.
B2.3a Cancelling renewals. You can cancel your renewals at any time in Profile, at no cost. Your Subscription then stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for, and no further renewal request is sent. If you renew again later, your Subscription is restored.
B2.4 What the fees are not. The fees are not interest, not a deposit, not savings and not a guarantee. They are charged for the service, separately from the interest on any Loan, and they do not change that interest. The cost of each Loan (interest and total to repay) is shown in the Offer and in the Loan Agreement before you accept. The Loan Agreement also reminds you of these fees, so that you can see the full cost of borrowing through Pretoh.
B2.5 No guarantee of a Loan. Paying the Subscription fee or a renewal does not guarantee a Loan. A Loan may be granted or refused. Paying gives you no priority and no place in any queue, pool, draw or selection by chance.
B2.6 No hidden fees. Apart from the subscription fees, we charge only the interest on a Loan and, if a Loan is repaid late, the late charges shown in that Loan's Offer and Loan Agreement (section 8.1). The only other costs are recovery costs that a court or the law puts on a borrower in default. Your mobile-money operator may charge its own fees.
B2.7 Fee changes. We will tell you in the App at least 30 days before any change. A change never applies to a period you have already paid for.
B3. Starting the service straight away
B3.1 By approving the payment, you ask us to start the identity verification immediately, without waiting for any withdrawal period to end. The same applies to each renewal period, which starts on the day you pay.
B3.2 You acknowledge that once the verification has been performed, or once a renewal period has started, the service has been delivered at your request. The fee for that service is then not refunded, except in the cases in B4.
B3.3 You may cancel before the verification starts, and you will be refunded in full.
B3.4 If Cameroonian law gives you a withdrawal right that cannot be excluded in your situation, for example where you signed up after one of our agents approached you, you keep that right, under the conditions set by law. Contact us through Profile → Help.
B4. Refunds
B4.1 We refund the fee in full in these cases:
- the verification could not be performed because of us, for example a technical failure of our systems or of our providers. If you prefer, we run the verification again for free instead;
- you were charged twice, or charged a wrong amount. We refund the extra amount;
- we close sign-ups, or stop the service, before your verification runs;
- you cancelled before your verification started (B3.3);
- a payment was taken without your approval.
B4.2 If we pause the service. If we stop accepting all Loan requests, for everyone, for more than 7 days in a row during a period you paid for, we extend your Subscription by the number of days of the pause. If we close Pretoh for good, we refund the unused part of your current period.
B4.3 If your verification fails because of your documents or photos, for example a blurred photo, we let you try again at no extra cost. If it fails because a document is fake, altered or belongs to someone else, the fee is not refunded (section 11).
B4.4 Not refunded: fees for services already delivered, whatever the decision on a Loan request, including when there is no Offer or you decide not to borrow.
B4.5 How we refund. To the mobile-money account you paid from, within 10 business days of your request or of our finding. Ask through Profile → Help or [email protected].
B4.6 Nothing in Part B limits any refund or right that Cameroonian law gives you as a consumer.
B5. Our commitments for the service
B5.1 We deliver the services with care, using reasonable skill and security.
B5.2 We never ask you for cash, your PIN or an SMS code. All payments go through your mobile-money account in the App.
B5.3 If Part A and Part B differ on fees or refunds, Part B applies.
